How Uplift digital archiving works
The Uplift platform offers a simple, comprehensive methodology for managing the lifecycle of your archived documents.
Step 1: Upload
Documents are uploaded to the Uplift platform and assigned a document classification.
Step 2: Assignment
Uplift assigns a deletion date based on classification and your specific business rules.
Step 3: Authorisation
You are notified by Uplift on the deletion date, initiating a two-step authorisation process.
Step 4: Deletion
Following authorisation, your document is securely deleted, and an audit trail is created.

How Uplift helped bring control and process to digital archives
The Company
A NZ based energy infrastructure and utility company.
The Challenge
As is the case with many businesses, the customer had digital records and documents stored in multiple locations including shared drives, cloud storage, and SharePoint. Changes to systems and processes over time, combined with a lack of clear retention and disposal policies meant that many of these documents laboured for years in digital storage, with improper naming conventions and inconsistent metadata.
With no simple way to determine what these files contained and no view of when (or how) they should be disposed of, they quickly became part of an ever-growing repository of digital records, elevating the risk of a privacy breach or non-compliance with relevant legislation. Business units had no accountability for managing their own records, with the task being delegated to information management teams who often didn’t have the adequate knowledge or context for how the files should be managed.
The Solution
TIMG worked with the customer to identify and classify these records, before migrating them to the Uplift platform. By requiring certain metadata fields and automatically applying a retention and disposal policy to new records, Uplift ensured clarity and oversight of all archived documents. When the deletion date comes due, business unit managers are prompted to request disposal, and a senior manager provides approval. Access to records is permission based, with SSO to make access seamless.
Uplift’s reporting covers both the customer’s digital and physical archives, providing a single view of records retained. This allows for single management of all records and a real time view of what requires disposal.
The Result
The Uplift platform has provided the business with a simple, comprehensive way to archive digital records, understand what they contain, and apply retention and disposal policies that suit the record type. Business units gain the tools required to be accountable as the platform eliminates any confusion surrounding retention of files. Access controls ensure that records are readily available to authorised users, while restricting access to sensitive information.
